Monument Kapelsche veer WEBSITE Namens het informatiepunt Kapelsche veer en de gemeente Waalwijk

De bouw van het nieuwe monument Kapelsche veer is gestart op 13 juni 2017 en werd op 26 januari 2018 voltooid.
Het motief in de nieuwe bestrating zorgt voor verwarring. Het lijkt namelijk op de Britse 'broad arrow' (een WOII-productiestempel van het Britse War Department).
De gemeente Waalwijk geeft echter aan dat de drie strepen iets anders symboliseren. De linker streep staat voor de Poolse aanvallen, de middelste
streep staat voor de aanval van de commando's en de rechter streep staat voor de aanval van de Canadezen.
Het monument wordt met regelmaat bezocht door militairen en militairen in opleiding.
Er valt immers veel te leren van bepaalde acties
uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
In juli 2020 was het een groep van de KMA in Breda
die de site bezocht.

The design in the new paving causes confusion.
That's because it looks like the British 'broad arrow'
(a WWII-production stamp by the British War Department).
The municipality of Waalwijk however indicates that the three stripes symbolize the attacks by the Poles (left stripe), the attacks by the Commandos (the stripe
in the middle) and the attacks by the Canadians
(right stripe).
The monument is visited on a regular basis by the military and military cadets.
There is a lot to be learned from certain actions
from World War II.
In July 2020 it was a group from the KMA in Breda
that visited the site.
